No idea if this will work, but over on Cake Stop on Bike Radar, we had freewheeling discussions on just about everything newsworthy, and often they all merged into one big lively thread, as so often news stories overlap. Sometimes messy, mostly good-humoured, short shrift given to insults, invective, or trolls (not fed). Rarely any emojis (or at least only to wind up certain emoji-phobic posters).

In all seriousness, it was one of my primary sources of breaking news: you could guarantee if something somewhere had happened, one of the Cake Stop crew would post something, and there would be a really useful discussion, mostly free of partisan bias, but reflecting personal perspectives of the varied posters. Always helpful for trying to make sense of a chaotic world, listening to the opinions of people who are also trying to make sense of the chaos in real time.

And since we've been kind of put on notice to keep Cake Stop stream-of-consciousness debates away from the main site, here goes.

We need some news that doesn't include Ukraine, Russia, Trump, Musk or Starmer. 😉

Gaza? Maybe RJS has got some views on architectural opportunities...

It has taken them over a hundred years, long before the Israeli state was officially formed, but they seem to have the extermination of the Palestinian state in sight - actively aided by the US, and helped by European governmental hostility to pro-Palestinian activity.
I don't know what chance the Arab proposal to rebuiild Gaza has. I rather suspect it'll fizzle out. Meanwhile the Netanyahu, the IDF, and the settlers have turned their attention to the West Bank.

I forgot that one. It already has it's own thread and is hardly "breaking news".

I have a feeling that Donald Netanyahu might breathe life into it yet...
