But Farage has spent £5 million on security 🤥

That story was a farce, but probably less than the cost of Burnham's security, so why should Burnham worry?

They'll be back because of the publicity rather than the lack of shouty words from Burnham.

Aiui the police were caught unawares by this action. If there is a repeat I would hope and expect that the police will not stand by.

They moved to Portsmouth last night but the police did intervene, though it took until 3 am to clear the protestors

News outlets seem strangely reticent to point out that virtually all the black-shirted balaclava wearers appeared to be "men of fighting age".

Edited to change "were" to "appeared to be"

It really does look like Blue Labour are going to nobble Burnham too. No, it's exactly your job to do the politics on this, not the police's. You've had enough time to come up with something more plausible than this.

My local election Labour Party door-stepper tried the 'vote Labour or let Reform in' line.

My long reply was followed within a week by his branch disbanding. If Burnham doesn't face up to the past collusion with lowest common denominator campaigning - refusing to come out against collusion in the sell off of council housing in particular - and put some integrity out here the prospects are Grimm.

Exactly this. His hiding away from the subject is little different from Farage disappearing when awkward questions about dodgy finance hit the headlines. His job description involves making difficult choices, though I'd have thought that upsetting fascists wasn't that difficult a choice.

It is also an "easy win" for him. Most of the country will be seeing the videos and considering it unacceptable. Were Burnham to be more public he's likely get a large %age of the electoate thinking they really don't want thugs in balaclavas markching down their streets in the early hours.

Of course not everybody - interview starts at 8:17 in the video, the "attitude" starts at 10:00 for an interview with one of those protesting and I found it "illuminating" (and disappointing)
