Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
I daren't comment over there as it's 100% NCAP but the Tom Moore thread has been resurrected on the main site and Jesus Christ everyone went a bit mental a few years ago, didn't they?

You're not wrong.

I liked SheilaH's contribution though. I'd forgotten about the amusement I got from whoever that was!

The overall combination of flag-shaggers and conspiracy theories is also funny.

As soon as you invent even one good deed you become a scammer.
So, how much was marketing versus scam?

Eh? It's perfectly possible to do good deeds without exploiting people or scamming them...

I was obviously referring to that good dead for someone who had died ages before the actual said deed.

Worthwhile to follow the read, it being in two parts.
'Mr Anderson prevented one elderly woman from killing herself, the firm claimed. In fact, she had died years earlier.'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3gxg4jd0ggo
'Depher, a social enterprise, used vulnerable people's photos without consent and founder James Anderson spent company cash on a house and car.'

The Ingram-Moores said in a statement they felt “unfairly and unjustly” treated as they accused the commission of “selective storytelling”.

“A credible regulatory body would provide the full truth, rather than misrepresenting and conflating facts and timelines that align with a predetermined agenda,” they said. “True accountability demands transparency, not selective storytelling.”

They added that the inquiry had taken a “serious toll on our family’s mental and physical health, unfairly tarnishing our name and affecting our ability to carry on Captain Sir Tom’s legacy

As reported by the Grauniad; they seem rather light on contrition. Legal redress isn't mentioned.

The commission report is very damming indeed. As you say they still seem to be trying to play the innocent victim despite this report.

I wonder if there is a potential fraud case against the family company over the false claims about donations from book going to the charity.
This may well only be possible against the company, not the individuals depending on whether the individuals also made representations re the proceeds

Such a great feel good story during covid has been turned to a tawdry affair by the greed of some.
( Who mentioned PPE as well bringing out the same greed in some people?)
