I know all that, my point was that it's not just when it's the offspring of someone well known that these kinds of stories hit the headlines.
Again there a bit of a difference between a 15 year old going inter-railing and the disappearance and death of a 19 year old on holiday.

Again, I know all that.

My point was about the perceived "two tiered" nature of the reporting.

I don't "follow" so called Celebrities on Social Media, but, this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c75n1y7gqz5o came up on BBC News Feed. I fail to understand the "need" to discuss your children's leisure activities on Social Media, but, I do wonder, don't Kensington and Chelsea Social Services have more pressing cases to follow up?
Probably but she does have a history of neglecting her children.

And exposing them to violent outbursts:-

Is there a legal age for travelling abroad without an adult?
A few years ago, my now 26 year old, N - then aged 17 - my husband and I flew to Portugal for a holiday.
This was the first time we had been on a plane with either of our children.
Our children have the same last name as my husband, my last name is different.
As we arrived back at Heathrow, we got separated into different passport control lanes. N and I were together and Al had already gone through and was waiting on the other side.
N was stopped and asked where their parents were - it was obvious that we were together. N wasn’t allowed through until I had gone through and fetched Al to come and vouch for them.
Got a big lecture about child trafficking.
N thought the whole thing was hilarious “No one’s going to kidnap me, I’m far too annoying!” - (not wrong, to be fair!)
Surely 17 year olds can travel abroad by themselves?

Weird definition of neglecting (IMHO)

No where in that piece does it say the children witnessed the breaking of the items.

But, on balance, I would agree with @matticus , why use you children as Clickbait, which was rather my point in the OP. Why do these "celebrities" think "we" need to know their parenting "techniques", we can screw up our offspring's lives without assistance from "celebrities"

Son No1 travelled, alone, (by airplane) to Saudi Arabia, age 17, to join a BP Oil Tanker as a cadet.

The only "incident" was when Saudi Border/Immigration Officials confiscated the T shirt he was wearing, because it had, what they deemed, an offensive slogan emblazoned on it.

No, I don't recall what the slogan was.
