Many years ago I was a skeptic. There’s certainly more rain coming down every year so that is enough evidence. What happened with the Dubai flooding? I’ve never seen anything like it. Could it be cloud seeding techniques?

Not denying that climate change is happening, but, the Dubai event, think about it. The media is reporting "18 months rain in one day", but, the typical annual rainfall for Dubai is approximately 6 inches, so, they got approximately 9 inches in one day, doesn't sound quite as drastic, does it?

This. Absolutely this. Their drainage infrastructure just isn't up to handling what would cause issues for a more varied country weather wise, but looks pretty catastrophic there.

But no, it's because they fired silver pellets into the clouds or something. Because science.

Acksherly, BBC Science is saying 10in vs 4in-per-year, but anyway ... :P [ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68839043 ]

You make a valid point about the "MONTHS OF RAIN IN ONE DAY!!!!!" type headline. If more days are dry than wet - people say this used to be the case in the UK, pfffft - then many wet days will be of the "MANY DAYS RAIN, ALL AT ONCE" type. It's slightly shoddy reporting.

Sometimes ...

p.s. dunno about you, but 10inches (of rain) still seems an awful lot to me. In one go!

If they said, alright we will just stop new oil. What would we do with our new petrol/diesel vehicles? Just weigh them in for scrap value? There’s more chance of just stopping profitable war.

'Antarctic average sea ice extent for 2023 was the lowest on record. During the ice growth season from June-October, ice extent was exceptionally low for the time of year, reaching over 1 million square km below previous record lows and setting a new record low maximum extent by a very large margin. For much of the rest of the year, the ice was at record or near-record low levels'

Some rapid acceleration in sea ice that is impossible to future predict, though next year might get scarier.
Antartica, I think, is said to have potential for 60 meters of sea level rise.

Keep-up at the back....
Oil is used in 3 main sectors, Energy, Transportation, Chemicals.
There's plenty oil on the market for today's needs. Oil will never stop completely; BUT we have the means to significantly reduce Oil requirements for 2 out of the 3 sectors above. so there's no need for more....

Yes, yes we could reduce it but the people who have wells full of black gold are also very powerful people with some political punch so reduction won’t happen. Geddit?

Are you doing anything to stop wars? Or do you just whine on the internet about how they will always happen?

In fact, do you ever say or write anything constructive?? I doubt it, just another attention-seeking little man ... 😂

No shoot Sherlock....
Slowly and surely the worlds reliance on Oil/Gas is being curtailed and that will continue to be the direction of travel....there will be other powerful people and governments.

WE CAN make it happen. It's up to us. We can make it happen with who we choose to vote for. Out of interest, of the political parties that you can vote for, which do you think would refuse to oblige the powerful people of which you speak, and do something about climate and environment?
