I was too cautious. Once a week is a better option.

'The weekly event was born out of a one-day protest in 1974 against cars taking over the world’s streets. It now covers 127 km (79 miles) of streets in the city and, on average, 1.5 million Bogotanos use the Ciclovía every Sunday. It has spread to most other Colombian cities and has been copied by mayors across the world, from Buenos Aires to Bengaluru, who hope the initiative can help get people in shape, improve mental health, reduce car usage and help fight climate change in the way that it has in Colombia.'

There is a small - but pretty - city in NE Italy that has been car-free forever.
The tourist trade is still rather .. buoyant. To say the least.

A very British, middle class protest. Protest done, nobody hurt, no real damage - it wasn't even paint, druids can still enjoy the summer solstice, plenty of chance for the press and politicians to express their distaste. And absolutely no impact on stopping or reducing oil production or consumption. Everybody happy.

The Times, Mail and Express all puts it on their front page.

Job done as far as the protesters are concerned.

English Heritage man on Toady prog this morning was of course decrying the defamation of this world heritage site. He then went on to say it was a symbol of how early civilisations lived hand in hand with the season and nature...I don't think he'd quite joined the dots at that point....

Good work by English Heritage to be fair; got on the BBC promoting their festival site. 👍

(Did the Today Toady challenge him, or present alternative viewpoints? Just out of interest ... )
