Does anybody here take the Greens seriously?

The first was ineligible for undisclosed reasons, but the error was apparently "in good faith"
The second and third were because they did not realise that teachers could not be councillors and the local green party also did not realise this.
The fourth was unable to continue for unspecified reasons.
The fifth was arrested over allegations that she had made anti-semitic posts on social media.
The sixth is due to ill health.

As a comparator, Reform councillors have had to quit due to:

• Posts suggesting melting down Nigerians to fill potholes.
• Sharing Nazi images
• Posts celebrating the rape of a Sikh women and calling Muslim people rats, and whites "the master race"
• Being discovered to have beaten his wife black and blue and been arrested for child sexual offences
• Being a hardcord porn star

Before the elections, in the last year alone, 17 Reform councillors had to stand down due to vetting, conduct, failing to do their job etc

...and yet those two parties are supposedly the unofficial opposition to Labour.
The country is screwed. (Not the first time that I've posted that).

Not really, this is more like an apprenticeship. A political party can only learn and grow by actually doing the job.

I think it is a bit of both. I liked the Green cautious approach of the past. Growing too quickly makes it difficult to learn.

Well the job in hand was fielding candidates and the Green Party E and W have been doing that since about 1990 so you'd think they'd have got the hang of due diligence etc by now.

The problem is that they never actually expected to win.
So suddenly things like jobs and poor health get in the way.

It would be interesting to see how the number of elected officials "stepping down" after bein g elected changes over time.

And the Green Party's failing means abother by election, which costs and drags people out to vote again ...

I definitely think that's part of it, plus the sudden surge in popularity of the Greens and Reform meant they rushed to field as many candidates as possible, resulting in failure to do in depth checks. If the party fielding the candidates won't do the digging, somebody else will.
