US doesn't seem to understand VAT is not a trade barrier and is levied on all goods including domestically produced product and nothing to do with imports or US. They are impacting the world without even bothering to understand the situation - beggars belief and really does suggest no sensible outcome.

Similarly I can't see the EU changing its food safety regulations to accommodate Trump's sub-standard produce.

For some reason Trump and his fan club have decided they actively hate the EU so I suspect they'll just be finding ever impossible requirements just because they have such bile towards the block. And the EU as a block represents a significant trading group not some small country that accepts being pushed around and responds with further & faster rhetoric (whilst having cool heads).

Not sure exactly how the EU will react but given the the EU is the world regulatory superpower, my bet is on a slew new regulations and potentially taxes that impact US 'Big Tech'.

They seem to think they know what is happening in the UK than we do ourselves. Their media have already got the populace accepting the MAGA image of us being under siege from immigrants stabbing hundreds of people in the streets and assaulting our women. It's embarassing how ignorant they are of the outside world for a supposed democratic and open country.

I have noticed that I buy more from Sainsbury's than they buy from me, so will henceforth be forcing myself to pay 50% more for any goods I buy from Sainsbury's. I will not continue to be taken advantage of in this way.

It appears that Asda (with whom I have no such deficit) is considerably cheaper after these extra charges than Sainsbury's. This is clear proof that Sainsbury's have been ripping me off for years.

Have not yet done the calculations to establish if it would be better to buy from Asda or set up a farm in my back garden, but I assume the latter.
