I've been to Alcatraz, twice. I think the national parks service struggles to keep the place in a state of arrested decay despite mugs like me pay8ing $50 a head to walk around a relatively modern concrete building.

If they try to re open it as an actual prison, Elon Musk will close it to save money.

(It is actually well worth the trip, by the way)

I think you're missing the attraction to Trump of incarcerating brown people in crumbling buildings that aren't fit for human habitation.

Always up for debate, but they freed Europe, defeated Japanese

You must salute the flag every morning in your Stars and Stripes underpants.

The vast expanse of Eastern Europe and Berlin, were occupied by the Russians. Hardly a Yank in sight.

Besides, I could have sworn that the British Empire chipped in somewhere along the line.

Oh and you know Trump was talking about VE Day.

I’ve been too. It was an interesting place. As you say the buildings are beyond saving now.
But it closed because it was too expensive to run, so why would it be any different now?

I would expect the buildings would need much work. Running costs, with modern technology and housing less numbers but more serious offenders could be viable.

And of course being an island, he would be able to make it so that there would be almost no means of independent verfication of conditions. Couple that with different departments involved in the detention facility and you have echoes of Guantanamo Bay......

Full-on fashing: be so scared of independent press scrutiny that you scare them all into line by threatening to put them out of business. They really are the worst cry-babies, and obviously know that their project is unsupportable. This is all because CBS screened an interview they Trump didn't like.

That's interesting... it's almost like the drafters of the law *prohibiting regulation on films* had Trump in mind. This seems like a slam dunk. I know, it's hard to believe that Trump wouldn't understand the law forbidding this, being the voracious reader and digester of information that he is...

Yes, they have solved the catalysis of iron
corrosion by sodium chloride problem, so reinforced concrete will be fine now. Failing that, just get prisoners to build it out of brick and mortar. Should be far enough from the San Andreas fault. Who cares anyway

According to BBC the WTO prohibits tariffs on digital products, which would include films.
So yet again Trump is talking nonsense.

What next, tariffs on books written overseas? Painting done overseas, music written overseas?

Great ideas. I'd PM him straight away via Truth Social, if I were you.

It's a shame there's not some subversive person in his inner circle who could persuade him to put a tariff on something like 'Schadenfreude' or 'entrepreneurs', as they are flooding the US market with foreign stuff with silly names, and these things should be made in the US.
