Trump gets to keep his $400million dollar plane after he leaves office, it woven be used by the next president.
Yet poor old Nicola Sturgeon gets pushed out of office for sneaking a camper van on to her drive way, which was used for party campaigning.
We just can’t do proper corruption.

With any luck he'll demand to have a go in the pilot's seat, and that'll be that.

I wonder if they think we won't notice that they've been normalising Trump from before 2016 and bending the knee since 2024.

Looks like the EU isn't very happy with Trump. Now at the back of the queue for a trade deal with the US - seems like the sort of thing that people said would happen to post Brexit UK.

. . . pretty sure Obama said UK would be back of the queue if Brexit happened

Senator Chris Murphy's evisceration of Trump and the Qatari & Middle East corruption is jaw-dropping, and I thought my jaw had got used to Trump. In short, it's a multi-billion-dollar stitch-up involving Trump-branded properties and golf courses, with the aeroplane being a massive bung to seal the deal, all on the American tax-payers' dime. Murphy's observation is that by doing it sooo publicly, Trump is hoping that people will ignore the blatant corruption, which is expressly forbidden in the constitution (to the extent it reads as if it was written with Trump in mind).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Emoluments_Clause

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

And Trump just can't understand the issue, can't appreciate that there is an issue. Maybe that alone should disqualify him from office.

Exactly.

While we are all chattering about a 747 what is going on in the background? A bigger abuse of power, no doubt.

He knows he is untouchable for any actions linked to the presidency.

Might be a bit more limited, need a lawyer to interpret the language but Supreme Court rules
... the nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. There is no immunity for unofficial acts.
Certainly my non-expert interpretation is that he is not above the law as Presidential authority is limited. I'd have assumed that accepting bribes is not part of the duties of being a President.

But on a non-legal basis, can't he realise he is not being given the plane because he's a nice bloke. The giver expects to gain advantage from the gift (just as inb the case of Starmner/Reeves/et al. taking freebies, it's not because they are mates but give looking to gain advantage). ie it's costing something.

Presumptive immunity presumably (see what I did there) reverses the burden of proof. Since all criminality already comes with a burden of proof on the state, this would seem to be an additional burden to overturn the presumption of immunity. No idea whatsoever how that would work in practice, but the evidence suggests he thinks it's a high bar to get over
