So, the Democrats don’t have strong leadership.
Meanwhile, the Republicans don’t have a sane leadership,

It's beside the point and currently immaterial really. The mid terms may see a big swing in the senate/congress. Once that happens, the judiciary will be safer and able to stem the tide of injustices and the senate and congress can push back. I think that is inevitable.
From there, a presidential candidate will emerge. The PE is still almost 4 years away.

While the Democrats pin their hopes in the rainbow crowd, their success is likely as this mythical creature

Original Sin by JakeTapper and Alex Thompson is a profoundly dishonest book. It is a book about a cover-up-- the cover-up by Biden and the people around him to hide how near senile he was-- but it contains its own cover-up -- the fact that Biden only got the nomination in 2020 because the Democratic Party bigshots (Obama, Peloisi, et al) were so desperate to block Sanders. When Biden won South Carolina, he had come in fourth in Iowa and fifth in New Hampshire. Sanders had won Iowa (or at least tied Buttigieg), and decisively won New Hampshire and Nevada. Sure, CLyburn delivered S. Carolina to Biden but on the same day-- obviously by prearrangement-- Buttigieg and Klobuchar dropped out. Sanders might have lost to Trump in 2020 but it would have been a very different Trump and a very different Democratic Party. Instead we had four years of a hopeless semi-invalid, while Trump got stronger and stronger and his forces angrier and angrier. The pitiable situation of the Democrats today was triggered the need to block Sanders (and later AOC). The Dems subordination to their donors has delivered the country to Trump. [Eli Zaretsky]

Kamala Harris - clean, coherent, intelligent.
Trump - convicted felon, liar, idiot, fraudster, sex offender, narcissist, (terrible golfer with multiple bankruptcy's)...

That's one take. Democrats beating themselves up over past decisions using hindsight?
Trump took the populist vote. Trump and his administration is what you get when voting on populism.
The people get the government they deserve.
Anyway, Trump 1.0 was rather benign and given the current state of the US, the tariff's, the big beautiful Bill, DOGE, Biden (despite all his frailties) left office with a thriving economy and was infinitely better than anything Trump has achieved. At least his tenure was constructive rather than the destructive Trump. Biden did not concede power in the world, Biden did not betray the Ukrainians and Biden was pro climate change and was actively pursuing policy and financial incentive on this front. (The Semi-conductor factory being built in the US came about because of him. Nothing to do with Trump and his tariff's).

Amazing how your personal prejudices show through so much.

If Kanala is so intelligent and Trump is an idiot, its amazing she isn't President. Could it be that Trump had the intelligence to play the electorate correctly to achieve his goal, whereas Harris was an idiot in not playing the electorate to achieve her goal.

Trump succeeded, Harris failed - makes you question the prejudicial language you use in relation to intelligence and idiot

Most people would say the intelligent one was the one who succeeded

No. It's about the problem of honesty and integrity. Trump is managed by a team. His skill is that he can lie, lie lie and back up those lies. If you were to walk up to him and punch him in the face he would deny it happened. Even if it was filmed and witnessed. He would continue to deny it happened, then say that all the recordings are phony etc etc.

The Republicans are happy to go with the lies because they work. If you keep lying to people over and over again they believe some of those lies. The only thing that will change the political situation is when the reality of those lies bites. And even then some of those losing jobs, livelihoods, property, loved ones will still "blame the dems" in the absence of any evidence because they cannot face the fact that their own stupidity in believing lies has led them to where they are.

The Democrats are not willing to lie and disseminate. They want to improve the country. The Republicans are, because they only want wealth and power and don't care how they get it.

Nothing to do with intelligence. The only intelligence on the Republican side is the puppet master managing the imbecile figure-head.

I would say that the proven liar and fraudster won.
The intelligence of the candidate and the electorate is completely unconnected.

Yanks do seem to have a fondness for fantasists. Remember the avuncular one who lived in a make-believe world of Hollywood westerns?

He may well be a liar and a fraudster, but unlike Harris he had the intelligence to adopt tactics to win the contest he was in.
There is no glory or valour in losing a simple battle. He had the sense to adopt tactics that won. Harris did not

Sorry Spen but that's rubbish. The Republicans chose him to represent them because they knew what his tactics would be . They are the same tactics he has used all his life. Lying, bullying and denying. He didn't adopt any tactics. He was employed as a weapon by Republicans far cleverer than the orange shootgibbon. The Policies he is enacting don't come from him. He's literally a mouthpiece being told what to sign because he can't read.

The tactics used were obviously successful.
It is unfortunate that enough of the US electorate were gullible enough to fall for it. The Dems gave the electorate too much credit.
