It won't get anybody elected (Musk has no charisma and is increasingly unpopular, particularly as DOgy impacts become felt).
His (lack of) charisma could/should be irrelevant as he will simply be looking for someone new to control back.
(Just in case it has escaped anyone, as non-American born he cannot stand).

Frequently press keeps talking about US President/Trump as the world's most powerful person.

But is he? US might have the largest GDP but in many respects US and thus Trump is surpassed by others.

Personally I'd be putting Xi as most powerful person. China has massively larger military than the US (even India has more troops than the US), China has "all the cards" compared to the US, etc.

Just plodding along as always.
Does that apply to Senate/Congress or just President? (I have no idea).

Ian

Definitely the President. As for the others, I too have no idea. Doubt he really wants the seat, just the power to influence.

Just looked it up:

'Yes, a foreigner can become a U.S. Senator. The U.S. Constitution requires senators to be at least 30 years old, a citizen of the United States for at least nine years, and an inhabitant of the state they represent. While the President must be a "natural born citizen," there is no such requirement for senators. Numerous foreign-born individuals have served in the U.S. Senate.'

Turns out, only the President and the Vice President need to be a natural born citizen of the U.S.

What role does the US Constitution play in the current state of affairs? There will be another shitgibbon executive order along in a minute. Oh hang on... playground squabbles etc...

Merely answering a question, but yeah, probably bugger all.

I get the distinct feeling that when Musk is railing against "pork" in the bigly bill he is really meaning "pork" that doesn't go into his pocket.
