In other news, despite reports that Mom had told Elon and Donald to stop fighting and shake hands, little Donny is reported to have said "shan't. I'm not speaking to him. He's bigly rude.". Elon is reported to have said "Donny is a poo-pants who likes girls wee-wee".

It seems both will be going to bed without any supper.

Not only that but apparently the Rump is about to find out about the plummeting value of Tesla cars. 😂😂😂

It’s all so pathetic, yet so predictable.

Just a few months ago Musk was giving away $1million prizes to voters in swing states.

Now Trump is threatening to sell the Tesla be bought, when he turned the Whitehouse lawn into a Tesla showroom.

It's pathetic in the context of the Papuan journalist piece but it's great for popcorn sales.
Musk is as narcissistic as his new adversary come and won't back down. Trump cannot help but bite. Musk can reach millions through X and this will not end well for either of them. Trump likened Zelensky and Putin to 2 boys fighting in the playground where he said you have to let them fight and then pull them apart but there is no one to pull Trump and Musk apart.
At a tangent, if this swings a) the vote against the Bill and b) swings a few of the more discerning Republicans to voice their concerns, then the spat will illicit material change.

We're only 4 months in to this Presidency and big holes are appearing. If you have time, go on to YT and watch some of the Forbes Breaking News Channel, you'll see that many of Trumps actions do not happen in a vacuum. Lutnick et al get royally grilled. Watch Noem squirm. You also get to see the Democrat's who are not afraid to speak up. All this and all their answers to criticism is on record. These are the things that will and can be used against them even if the critiques realise no change of tack now. There will be advisors in the background warning them and whilst they sit on their somewhat false pedestals thinking that they have some sort of immunity under the Trump umbrella, it will come back to bite them.
When the tide turns (mid terms?), I think the swing will be catastrophic but for now, Rome looks to be crumbling from within already. We won't have to wait 400 years. Add that the Emperor is in mental decline. Vance as the next President does not have the Trump factor and cannot sway the electorate with the same bollox. He does not have the clout and the press know he is a turncoat. No one trusts a man who flip flops.

"You can't manufacture bananas in America" is a quote from one of those committees, referring to the tarrif on bananas that has been 80% passed on to American consumers. Ditto coffee.

But this stuff isn't cutting through.

Musk going all out on x might have an effect, but I suspect he has enough dirt to get some of his EV subsidies back in exchange for moderating his rhetoric a bit.

Interesting aspect raised on a podcast I listened to earlier today. Given how quickly both of these two start suing people, surprising that Trump hasn't threatened to go to court over the "Epstein files" allegation. Difficult to interpret if that suggests concerns about what might be in those files or if it indicates trying to de-escalate or something else?

Aah but does a legal or even the press during that process want the files as evidence?
Trump could be opening up one helluva can of worms. Imagine if Musk roused enough support through X (including detractors, even if they aren't politically aligned) to get the files publicised.

I'll eat my hats and my cycle helmet (without condiments) if Trump isn't in a clip pf CCTV video or in some list or something equally incriminating (on more than one occasion).

This is an interesting & plausible take on how Trump operates.

Through calculated chaos and spectacle, Trump distracts the media and public from the dangerous consequences of his agenda.

It's a good take but credits him with far too much intelligence IMHO. I still think he does what he does because that's what he has always done, not because he has a master plan. Those around him pulling his strings are the ones with the master plan. They know how to goad him, how to manipulate him. Yes. it's like trying to direct a toddler, but it can and is being done. You just need the right shiny things to wave in front of him.
