So has DOGE just disappeared now then or what? Because I thought it was supposed to be about stopping profligate government spending?

They are Only cutting the stuff they don’t want.

$85million to move the space shuttle to Texas for no reason.

Excerpt from the Washington Post in the Abrego Garcia Testimony. BTW, according to human rights organisations, CECOT prison is one of the most opaque:

“Welcome to CECOT. Whoever enters here doesn’t leave,”

At the prison, Abrego was forced to strip, issued prison clothing and then kicked in the legs with boots and hit in the head and arms to spur him to change faster, the filing says. “His head was shaved with a zero razor, and he was frog-marched to cell 15, being struck with wooden batons along the way. By the following day, Plaintiff Abrego Garcia had visible bruises and lumps all over his body.”
Once in Cell 15, Abrego and 20 other Salvadorans were forced to kneel from about 9 p.m. to about 6 a.m., “with guards striking anyone who fell from exhaustion,” the filing says. “During this time, Plaintiff Abrego Garcia was denied bathroom access and soiled himself. The detainees were confined to metal bunks with no mattresses in an overcrowded cell with no windows, bright lights that remained on 24 hours a day, and minimal access to sanitation.”

My thoughts on the above is that the Garcia case will not set an precedent as the courts will be overwhelmed with cases such is the Project 2025 tactic.

Meanwhile, TACO tits said to republicans that there are 3 things they shouldn't touch: medicare, medicaid and social security. This is either dementia or more worryingly, there are dark powers setting the agenda and Trump is just the idiot front man.

Back on the subject of taxation. An interesting (for want of a better word) statistic,

Taxes paid by illegals in 2023: $89.8bn

Taxes paid by Tesla $0 (2024)
General Electric, $0 (2024)
Facebook $0 (2024)
FedEx $0 (2024)
Nike $0 (2024)
AirBnb $0 (2023)
3M $0 (2023)

I think the biggest 'ifs' now are *if* there will be midterm elections in 2026, and if there are *if* they will be free and fair. I think both are not certainties at this point.
It isn't a question of *if*.
You will be as aware as me of the numerous ways that have been made public, which what has become MAGA, has infected the voting system.
Millar and the Heritage Foundation will have been working on plans before the last election, on what steps should be taken, should the orange dictator have won last November. They want MAGA to remain in power and would have been well aware of the impact that many of the proposed policies would have.

Stephen Miller response to being compared to Nazi Germany posted:

[DEI - diversity, equity and inclusion]

In 5 months President Trump has done more to defeat cultural leftism (DEI, trans, illegal race discrimination, higher ed indoctrination*) than had been achieved in 50 years. We cannot save AMERICA if we do not save the culture.

When this was put into an AI interpretation program, the similarities with Nazi rhetoric is striking. It seems that Miller has been reading some of this stuff and tweaking it. As a short example, 'We cannot save Germany if we do not save the culture' is a core to the Nazi propaganda.

*Make the electorate dumb and feed them shoot.

Trump as an idiot front man has been a narrative for a while now. It is just becoming more blatant, and he can’t see it; because he is a greedy idiot.

I might have been being charitable.

One of the mysteries to me is how the UK has, to its credit, retained a paper voting system that is both remarkably speedy and pretty much 100% auditable and transparent, while the US system is complex, opaque, and open to hard-to-track interference (and yet is no faster than UK counting, it seems). Add in all the naked GOP attempts to disenfranchise voters and gerrymander districts (along with the ludicrous Electoral College), and 'free and fair elections' are anything but.
