Considering the scale of the Nazis' atrocities, I find most comparisons with Herr Trump extremely distasteful. Ultra nationalist? Yes. Virulent antisemite with a copy of Mein Kampf on his bedside table (not that he'd actually crack it open)? Not so much.

Is that 'scale' material? The rhetoric of the Trump administration is so very similar (as pointed out by many) to the rhetoric of the Nazi party.
Where is this heading? I think is the question.
We're not comparing Trump 2.0 with the atrocities of the Nazi's, we're comparing the rhetoric - mainly. The demonisation and subsequent inhumane incarceration and deportation of 'illegals' is right out of the Nazi playbook.

Trump has just put $100k per annum on skilled workers visas.
That will kill expat work stone dead. I get that they want to employ US workers but sometimes it’s useful to bring in outside ideas and skills.
I work for an American company we have lots of people shuffling between UK and USA on secondments usually for 3 years.
It’s already an expensive process with travel and accommodation packages, so an extra $300k tax will push this over the edge.

The technicality is that whining about the NYT saying things he doesn't like is not adequate framing for a lawsuit. So a pretty big technicality as technicalities go
Report I heard (an interview with somebody from the NYT) was that there was a technical error in the papers submitted to the court and that the merits of the case were not presented or considered as the paperwork had errors. ie not the victory on the merit or motive of the case.

The technical error, as explained in the article linked originally, is that a whine is not a claim, the judge used nicer words, but that's what it boils down to.

I thought it was the employer that paid for the visa not the employee, I could however be wrong.

I dont know exactly, I would expect the employer to claim back some if the expenses if not all.

Making a visa $100k ensures only highly qualified people will be worth the expense , not cheap labour

The requirement is a brief list of the complaints (one or two pages). Trump's deposition ran to over 80 pages of pointless 'vituperation and invective', with the substantive complaints coming after page 80.

"the President’s most well-known successes—in addition to his decades of magnificent real estate achievements, winning the Presidency, and then winning the Presidency again—his remarkable performance as the star of “The Apprentice,” one of the toprated shows of all time and a trailblazer in American television. Thanks solely to President Trump’s sui generis charisma and unique business acumen, “The Apprentice” generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, and remained on television for over thirteen years, with nearly 200 episodes. “The Apprentice” represented the cultural magnitude of President Trump’s singular brilliance, which captured the zeitgeist of our time"

Indeed. Just skimmed through the first few points and it's absolutely riddled with subjective nonsense.
For example:
On November 5, 2024, President Trump won the 2024 Presidential Election over Vice President Kamala Harris in historic fashion, emerging victorious in both the Electoral College and the popular vote, and securing a resounding mandate from the American people. President Trump trounced Harris with 312 electoral votes and a sweep of all seven “battleground” states. This victory was remarkable for many historic reasons, including because President Trump had to overcome persistent election interference from the legacy media, led most notoriously by the New York Times.

...and that's only the first point.
