Very condescending last paragraph that belittles you.

Shortfall is thick skinned. I fully expected return banter and besides... Shortfall displays nihilistic pessimism and cynicism to which I refuse to be drawn into.
However, when he refers to Chelsea FC in the same manner, then i'm not going to stop him.

Cynic and pessimist yes, nihilist no.

You might like another quote from The Economist.
In Europe worries about America’s flakiness under Donald Trump are giving way to a bigger fear: that, while portraying himself as Western civilisation’s champion, he now regards actual Western democracies as adversaries. “In today’s Washington”, our columnist writes, Europe “is often spoken of with greater loathing than either China or Russia”.

There's a very good Times Radio podcast (also on YT) about Putin and the re-shuffling/re-alignment of NATO. Some righties talk a bit of sense.

The United States is currently waging an economic war against the two countries it needs the most. For the first time in history, Washington is being forced to beg its "enemies" for the very resources that keep the American Empire alive: Oil and Money. In this video, we expose the two "unthinkable" deals happening behind closed doors that prove the US economy is in a death spiral. From the sudden reversal on Venezuelan sanctions to the desperate plea for China to buy US Treasury bonds, we break down why the era of American "Exorbitant Privilege" is officially over.

I must admit to being confused by Donnie's begging technique when it come to Venezuela. Give us what we want and we'll stop killing you is "different".
PS - Looks like Bradley tripped over and "fell on his sword". Dare say his family will be well looked after financially.

Well, it seems contrary to my post at #9187, the blatant racial gerrymandering in Texas can be stomached by the Justice Thomas.
https://www.npr.org/2025/12/04/nx-s1-5619692/supreme-court-texas-redistricting-map
In the dissenting opinion, Supreme Court Justice Kagan, who was joined by Browne-Jackson and Sotomayor, said,
[The high court's decision] "ensures that many Texas citizens, for no good reason, will be placed in electoral districts because of their race. And that result, as this Court has pronounced year in and year out, is a violation of the Constitution."

It's a crazy system, no less so because California will probably counteract by doing their gerrymander in the opposite direction (assuming — maybe rashly — that the SC wouldn't block that one while leaving the Texas one in place).
