There are two issues: the kidnapping of Maduro and the plans to run the country and profit from its oil reserves.
That bit is looking a bit problematic though. Trump and his backers are forgetting that the oil giants are multinational companies. If they do something that other countries don't like, it could backfire on them badly.

Trump is very keen on Greenland.

Europe is very keen on stopping Russia in Ukraine and from making moves on its European neighbours.

Just randomly thinking that Trump sees this as an opportunity for negotiating a deal; He gains either control of or an agreement on greater US involvement in Greenland (military and mineral rights) and in return helps bring about a peace deal in Russia with long term support for Ukraine and, of course, mineral rights and rebuilding contracts.

The BBC news tonight says there is optimism among European leaders on US support for a peace deal, and Trump has made further statements about his designs on Greenland......Mmmm

And that’s an issue with Greenland too.
Any rare earth minerals are under 1 km of ice sheet. So extracting them isn’t economical. So none of them are actually interested.

Ah! But, burn, baby burn. Donnie is all in favour of global warming. Opening up the sailing routes and diminishing that ice sheet.
Of course there are major problems with that thinking, especially in Florida, but lets face it; he won't be around that long.

It is not all about him. How do you think the families of those around him are going to get to Mars? I thought that was the ultimate objective?
I am mostly kidding at this point. But only mostly.

US President Donald Trump has been discussing "a range of options" to acquire Greenland, including use of the military, the White House said.
In a statement, the White House told the BBC that acquiring Greenland was a "national security priority".
