Remember how unpopular Thatcher was in 1980. She didn't spend four years electioneering, but rather pushing ahead with what she wanted to do in line with her principles. She certainly wasn't trying to win over Labour voters or union members, but rather having confidence that enough people would vote again for what she was doing (and with little compromise).

...and in the face of very low popularity and almost inevitable defeat in the next GE, she insisted on going to war with Argentina*. Waving the Union Jack and ending the lives of soldiers to show who's was the boss and gain popularity. So I am not sure that what you say about her ploughing on with her own agenda in an indomitable way has that much efficacy. On the back of the flag waving success in the south Atlantic, she gained popularity and was bolstered by her militancy and went to war with the press, the left, political structure and the unions. I do no think Britain has ever recovered from the individualism that she instilled into the British public.
FWIW, I think the press are the one's obsessed with the Labour party. Seemingly more intent on reporting on relative popularity and not policy and they set the agenda. We don't get to hear about the more positive stuff.

[*The right have, did and always maintained that it was an unavoidable conflict but when even Henry Kissinger was desperately trying to negotiate a diplomatic solution, Thatcher still went ahead and barely considered a non-confrontational resolution].

I kind of hope that when the dust settles after Davos, someone somewhere will start grilling him and seek his opinion on Trumps comments. Even the far right in Germany and Denmark have denounced Trump. Starmer actually spoke in much stronger terms yesterday in response to Trump's wilful disregard for losses in Afghanistan. So has Harry (who has a presence in the US).

Starmer

I do not know why the press are not pushing Nigel Cabbage's links tot he US and all his other activates out with being the MP for Clacton on Sea.

Oh, here's a good video from a US vet who sums up Trumps attitude pretty well. A non-hyperbolic, rant free pov:

US veterans response to Trump

Interesting the point the veteran starts with, which I have been trying to articulate for a while, he articulates it sharply and to the point, the US as a nation has had no honour for a very long time.

The whole of the right leaning press are subject to whatever their owners agenda is and that is now pro Farage/Reform in the main. The left wing press do report on him but I guess are preaching to the converted.

The main issue, as has been discussed at length, are the 'neutral' outlets like the BBC giving him such an easy ride. The sheer amount of airtime he gets, even well before he became an MP, is bizarre.

It’s interesting trawling YouTube news channels to try and get a comprehensive take on Donnie’s Davos debacle.
Nearly all the “reporting” comes from either UK or European sources.
There is hardly a response to be found from across the pond, beyond the odd footnote tagged onto yet another Minneapolis/ICE report.
So, very little of Donnie’s diplomatic disasters is even registering with the majority of US voters. This doesn’t bode well for an early removal from office.

It’s all well and good to live in splendid isolation, but when it comes to knowledge and understanding, Americans are bottom of the class.

You need to know where to look.

Long post but please don't overlook it as it will contradict your opinion some what (no offence intended) and will point you towards the detractors).

Of the main stream press:
CNN/CBS aren't too bad but have bent the knee a little. CBS's 60 minutes (a bit like the (brilliant) Brian Waldren Sunday hour of grilling politicians is excellent.

MS Now (formerly MSNBC News) have a clutch of commentators who are pretty good. For example Rachel Maddows who does not pull her punches, Ari Melber (who has a spin off series of daily reporting on Trump and particularly the Epstein files), Lawrence O'Donnell who does 'The last word' has been highly critical of Trump.
NYT is a bit a hit and miss though overall, critical of Trump. Even the Bezos owned Washington Post still print stuff true to their history of good investigative journalism.

Of the Youtubers (whom some of get more views than the main stream press):
Meidas touch (almost 6m subscribers and expanding quickly when they only had 2m at the beginning of Trump 2.0 and are setting up studios and correspondents in Canada and the UK). Ben Meiselas (whom I find a bit repetitive but he appeals to many) and Frazer Maxwell as well as others are on board with the Meidas Touch - the Scot Frazer Maxwell is extraordinarily articulate.

IHIP news is a pair of eclectic females who really put the knife in but also present things with facts.

Kyle Kulinski sees the bigger picture even if he tends to be a bit hyperbolic. He doesn't get any sponsorship and does not entertain any corporations, so his YT videos are completely ad free. He'll dig up the dirt in a way that others don't.

Some others to consider:
Keith Edwards
Chris Norlund
Adam Mochler
The Lincoln Project. Jack Wilson is brilliant.
Really American. A group of people quite happy to slate and mock Trump.

If you delve a bit deeper, it's amazing how many times the Daily Beast is referenced and LBC's James O'Brien - who recently did a very articulate slap down of Trump worthy of his idiocy in Davos.

It’s fine as I was hoping someone would point me in the right direction.
I found it odd that YouTube wasn’t coming up with many suitable suggestions for me. Rest assured that I will be checking them out.

Surprised Blair is so quiet and still hasn't stepped down from "The Board of Peace". Maybe that he hasn't says a lot about what Blair has become (or what he always has been).

I do not know wtf Blair is doing. He's joined the right in this. He joined Bush in his quest to find WMD, so it's not that surprising except he lingers in the back drop like a bad fart. The guy is an @rse who imho went from high opinion on day one as PM but slid downwards all the way until his demise. A straight line graph even First Aspect would be proud of.

YT are filtering more and more and trying to steer people towards shorts and high viewer videos. I don't think they are necessarily supressing left opinion, it's more appeasing the sponsors and generating revenue that way.
They have stopped showing videos of Russian soldiers getting turned into manure as it was 'not sponsor friendly'.
What annoys me is the imbalance - a guy builds a rough stone shelter somewhere in the mountains of Ukraine and he gets 2m views in no time whereas some political commentator does a good piece of journalism gets barely 40k views.
[You must have an account] If you subscribe to the one's you like, the feeds will hit your home page and it will change the appearance of it and the list of 'recommended videos'. I always hit the like button on videos that sing from my hymn sheet as it does affect the algorithm, even if I do not always 100% agree.
I also do comment and I do get a lot of feedback.
You can always subscribe to my YT channel 'cos it's f*cking ace: Pinno

No one gives a foook about politics, except a few ranting liberal lefties.

General public are more impressed by do-ers not wafflers

I like also:
Belle of the Ranch : formerly the channel of Beau of the 5th column - short pieces of commentary which I find very informative
And for light/sharp relief the usual suspects - Kimmel, Colbert, Meyers, Jon Stewart…
