If you have the financial wherewithal to pay the services of patent attorneys then yes. I have been involved in the process, I even have my name in a US patent. It costs non trivial amounts of money which in itself is a barrier to entry.
Weirdly I find myself rooting for China in this trade spat with Trump, which is something I thought id never be doing ( not to mention that the Chinese state are hardly paragons of trustworthiness)

That's the same for any business related legal expense. Do businesses go without contracts? Or see them as being too expensive to negotiate and draft?
If the cost of maybe £10k per country (two or three laptops) doesn't offer value in your mind to a business that relies on its IP, then you are spending too much money on your laptops.
