Actually I don't think there's a statistical difference outside of the criminal behaviour related 737 Max software issue.

Most of the rest of the bad press is QC related things that have been picked up during assembly.

True, and they are paying the price for the 737 Max debacle. It really was an extraordinary piece of corporate manslaughter in the end.

There is no doubt they have lost their way, but some of the noise in the press is about being more under the microscope than Airbus. It would be fair to say that if there are QC issues that are resulting in production delays while they are fixed, that's a good thing. My suspicion is that's happening all the time in Airbus, but no one cares.

That said, were I in that position I'd make my own judgement as to the stories I was being passed and at some point I'd find being part of the farce morally unacceptable.

But they didn't pay the price. They received, essentially, a slap on the wrists.

If those crashes happened in London, Paris or New York instead of Indonesia and Ethiopia (sh*thole countries), you can bet that the Boeing executives would be stewing in jail on corporate manslaughter charges.

Boeing got away with murder because those killed were a different colour.

Reminded me of a scene in Curzio Malaparte's Kaputt. He is visiting a German governor in Poland, possibly in Cracow, it's been a long time since I read it. During the evening, after dinner, Malaparte looks around the room and notices some kitschy additions to the decor, rather vulgar and disrespectful to the original.
