Countries don't elect leaders, people do. You can take people out of a country, some do that illegally.

Empires are ruled by Emperors.

State are led by Statesmen.

Countries can be variously be ruled by Kings or led by .....

I thought I was on your ignore list?

He may well be a lot of the things that people say on the forum, but the USA will be an ally and major trading partner long after he is gone.

Correct. Whether or not it's possible to do sensible deals with him while he is around is another question. But it's virtue signalling self harm not to try.

Agree - his character traits and approach to things generally will make it difficult, but he appears to have a genuine soft spot for the UK which we should do our best to exploit.

And as for your last sentence - I agree completely, but you're going to make yourself very unpopular round these parts with sensible statements like that ^_^

I should add that the counties seemingly standing up to him like Canada and China have been handed half the pack of cards. Trumps campaign was drill baby drill, not smelt baby smelt orine baby mine. So their harder lines are just the trade negotiations they have available that we don't.

I'm surprised a white supremicist wamted to go to a catholic funeral.
Almost as surprised that a catholic is vice president in the fascist's regime.

He said why
He did very well with the Catholic vote - 56% or so
So he thought he ought to go to the funeral because of that

Not because The Pope was the leader of the Catholic Church which was the foundation of Christianity or anything like that

Because of votes

At least his wife knew how to dress and behave - and at one point had to remind him what to do with the signs of Peace or something

I am not religious, so, no expert, but, IS the Catholic Church the foundation of Christianity? I appreciate THEY may think so, but, that doesn’t make it true.

That'll definitely persuade Trump to change tack.

Most on here bitch how trump is doing things for his own country, sod everyone else, but it's diplomacy when other countries do it.
He isn't doing anything for his own country you numbnuts. Anything he does, he does for himself. His friends tell him what to do, and how it will make his willy look big and make him lots of cash. That's it. There is no more depth than that.

He doesn't give a shoot about his country. He'd sell America down the river in a heartbeat if someone told him it would make him look like a winner.
