MAGAlite's pal aka controller PooStain ain't no commie is he? Oligarching grifter more like. Somewhat in common with the orange shitgibbon.

Russia has always been a totalitarian country pretending to be communist. (Some are more equal than others).
Not much has changed except Trump wants to emulate them. Putin has to keep up the pretence.

On the upside, men not being allowed in women's spaces should put some restriction on his Fuhrer's activities.

Nah, he's got presidential immunity for official (sexual predatory) acts.

One has to assume they think the obvious parallels with Nazi Germany are a positive thing.

Hate to be the one to break it to you but that's how it already is in most of the US. All schools have a flag on a large erect pole out front, and an alarming number have a pseudo militaristic approach to raising and lowering it. The national anthem is like the Lords prayer was for us when we were being indoctrinated as kids, and said flag is pledged allegiance to and said anthem sung with great regularity and passion at all sorts of events from peewee non contact tiddly winks onwards.there has been widespread censorship in school libraries and curriculums in the red states for decades.

Most Americans believe the US is the greatest at everything (democracy, quality of life, other things) because that's what they are told all their lives. Most Americans have never been anywhere else (except Canada, which they see as the same but with cheaper groceries, and Mexico, bless it) because why would they leave the greatest place on earth?

Maybe Trump is the antidote to that, taking the longer term view. Like you-know-what and British exceptionalism.

It's several years since it pretended to be communist.

Is that because it pretends to have elections?

Gorbachev destroyed the Soviet Union and let Russia descend to a gangster economy, egged on by Thatcher and Reagan. Other ex-Soviet countries moved more cautiously and now have more or less functioning democracies.
Russia today has evolved to a right-wing autocracy, with a leader who resents the diminished status of his country and is working to restore something of its former glory, though more in a Tzarist than a Stalinist manner.

All was fine under Gorbachev.
Putin's problem is that the SU glory days were the communist era. (For image and projection, not the plebs obs.)

I see Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC, has come up with the term Donny Two Dolls, after the malignant narcissist demonstrated how out of touch rich people like him are, by saying American kids might “have two dolls instead of 30 dolls”.
Given every bit of Barbie is sourced and made outside the USA, there will be expensive birthdays and Christmases ahead for more normal Americans.

I would have said the rise of the Oligarch was more on Yeltsin's watch.

Now looking to shut down PBS. PBS for the uninitiated is like the BBC lite and without a license to pay.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly1jwe7582o

This bit confuses me. Reads like two entirely contradictory sentences. Possibly because they are unbiased but bias is always subjective.
"Which viewpoints NPR and PBS promote does not matter," the order says.

"What does matter is that neither entity presents a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens."

Edit:- Also going against Congress. Again.
"However, the CPB budget has already been approved by Congress through 2027."
