G'day mite, Crocodile Dundee stylee 😉

Edited to add: I keep using Doric / Scots phraseology in the moderated world over there, partially to wind up whichever mod was insisting on the use of Inglish. How long before I get banned? Again.

I'd noticed. Maybe it's just French they hate. It's a pity there's not as much German in everyday English to test my theory, though perhaps I could steer some conversations onto classical music and start talking about the crescendo poco a poco in the Adagietto that has a climactic sforzando at the tenuto note before the coda and see whether I get told off. After I've listened to a sinfonietta, or a concerto for the violoncello, I always like some pasta, be that linguini, tortellini, spaghetti, tagliatelle or lasagne. So hard to choose.

I’d feel a certain amount of schadenfraude if using German words got you banned

It's colloquial. Just like that 'Loon bloke talking chookter. Canny unerstan' him.

What's that, you say? Democracy? Pfft, so yesterday.

If you've not been following the news, Mamdani is the Democratic candidate for NY Mayor. He happens to be Muslim too. Though I'm sure that his politics, the colour of his skin, and his religion, have nothing to do with singling him out for investigation.
