Epstein... that old chestnut.

Apparently Ghislaine Maxwell is 'assisting the Fbi in their investigations'.
Whatever the hell that means. For clemency and a reduced sentence most likely.
I am confused. Again.
They are investigating something that doesn't exist but all know does exist? Probably trying to implicate Biden.

Trump wanted to be re-elected for multiple reasons. Those reasons leave him compromised.

I agree, but I takes more than just the president. the entire party have to be complicit.
Starmer has a massive majority but can’t push through unpopular stuff because his MPs have principles.
Trumps majority is razor thin but his party are so scared of him.
Its a two party system, majorities have generally been very close

Here's the last 8 terms both Senate and Congress

Senate Majority (Last 8 Terms)
111th Congress (2009–2011): Democrats held the majority with 57 seats, plus 2 Independents (Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman) who caucused with Democrats, giving them a total of 59 seats (including a brief filibuster-proof supermajority of 60 seats until February 2010). Republicans held 41 seats.
112th Congress (2011–2013): Democrats maintained the majority with 51 seats, plus 2 Independents (Sanders and Lieberman) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 53 seats. Republicans held 47 seats.
113th Congress (2013–2015): Democrats held the majority with 53 seats, plus 2 Independents (Sanders and Angus King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 55 seats. Republicans held 45 seats.
114th Congress (2015–2017): Republicans gained the majority with 54 seats. Democrats held 44 seats, with 2 Independents (Sanders and King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 46 seats.
115th Congress (2017–2019): Republicans held the majority with 51 seats initially (52 at the start, adjusted after special elections). Democrats held 47 seats, with 2 Independents (Sanders and King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 49 seats.
116th Congress (2019–2021): Republicans maintained the majority with 53 seats. Democrats held 45 seats, with 2 Independents (Sanders and King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 47 seats.
117th Congress (2021–2023): Democrats regained the majority with 48 seats, plus 2 Independents (Sanders and King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 50 seats. Republicans also held 50 seats, but Democrats controlled the Senate due to the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.
119th Congress (2025–2027): Republicans hold the majority with 53 seats. Democrats hold 45 seats, with 2 Independents (Sanders and King) caucusing with Democrats, totaling 47 seats.
House of Representatives Majority (Last 8 Terms)
111th Congress (2009–2011): Democrats held the majority with 257 seats. Republicans held 178 seats.
112th Congress (2011–2013): Republicans gained the majority with 242 seats. Democrats held 193 seats.
113th Congress (2013–2015): Republicans maintained the majority with 234 seats. Democrats held 201 seats.
114th Congress (2015–2017): Republicans held the majority with 247 seats. Democrats held 188 seats.
115th Congress (2017–2019): Republicans maintained the majority with 241 seats. Democrats held 194 seats.
116th Congress (2019–2021): Democrats regained the majority with 235 seats. Republicans held 199 seats, with 1 vacancy.
117th Congress (2021–2023): Democrats held the majority with 222 seats. Republicans held 213 seats.

TACO.
July deadlines pushed back till August.
“When asked by a reporter whether the new August date was a hard deadline, Trump said: "I would say firm, but not 100% firm.”

In other words, meaningless.

He likes the show. TACO can't stand to be out of the limelight for more than 5 mins.
All the presidents men are doing their thing and he can soak up/create media hype and pretend to be big, very important and influential and at the weekend, play golf and at the end of the weekend, post really important stuff on Lie Social. It's a routine. Old people need their routines.

It is to someone's credit* that they learned from the 1st term how to game the system in the 2nd.

*As despicable as it is, there is thought and planning behind it, and I doubt it is DJT.

Indeed.
I've been genuinely thinking that had he served an immediate 2nd term, he would have inflicted considerably less chaos, and much more slowly. (a real Sliding Doors moment!)

It has been noted frequently that Hitler's failed putsch was formative in his rise to power. In Trump's case, his puppet-masters (Heritage Foundation etc) realised that having any (semi) grownups in the 2nd administration would put the brakes on the fascist elements they need to enact their agenda: even Pence showed enough backbone on 6 January to stop that violent plot.

It did start in the 1st term but that's because we're much cleverer.

To be fair, we did have a Trump thread but that was back in the days when political discussion was allowed in the mothership. We had a special section to hang out in. That wasn't enough though and exile island was created...

I think the people still talking about energy gels, pull ratios and tyre pressure are actually on the Ark Ship B, they just don't know it.

Ah, I'd forgotten that that was the deal back then, as my political stuff was in all Cake Stop, and pictures of gates in CC. I think I might have once looked in the helmets/safety part of CC once, but it left me deeply scarred and dizzy.

The helmet debate. That was epic.
