In this case I tend to agree that it sounds quite out of character for him, he is not known for his creativity. It would be an absolute shame if the WSJ story blows up in their face, it would help Trump as much as the shooting last year did.

You would hope it has been well verified.

The decision to go to print would not have been taken lightly.

The coordinated overreaction is interesting. There's nothing particularly new in the card. He knew the guy. Was photographed with him.

His first conviction came in 2008, the letter is from 2003.

So what's the big deal?

Is it fear because if they've uncovered that, what else do they have?

If Donny wasn't abusing some under aged girl (or trafficked adult - that's still immoral and illegal), then i'll eat my bike helmet (without seasoning).

I genuinely do wonder how long they can keep the pretence up. I'm just baffled. It gives me a bit of heart that in the UK a lettuce brought down the bonkers Truss.

I suspect the "truth" or otherwise is a bit irrelevant. US'ians have frequently demonstrated their readiness to believe complete fallacy whilst rejecting demonstrably true stuff.

I suspect it's more down to presentation.

Trump's approval ratings already not doing well so will this story make any difference eg after court cases finding him guilty, pay-offs, etc.

nb just commenting on the alleged WSJ birthday message. Things very different if some sort of evidence or allegations about more involvement with Epstein emerges.

That's true, but on the contrary, if it turns out to be a fabrication then Trumpers will have a field day about the MSM.

I wonder if "turns out to be" is going to change much as many will already have decided and won't be changing their minds. In USALand evidence not always relevant to what people believe.

Even if faced by irrefutable evidence I doubt it would make a difference to the MAGA supporters. I think he was correct when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and would walk.
It may play different after the next election but until then….
