n interesting aspect I wonder about is, assuming it's a Democratic President that follows Trump, will they actually and fully repeal the laws and undo the newly established practice? My worry is that whilst they might find what's happening really worrying, once in power they might also find it "convenient" and just leave it in place.
I wonder too.
I am hoping that there is sufficient division within MAGA, that Trump won't be able to take over. I don't think he's going to last long. I cannot see him serving 4 years but I do see Vance capable of presenting arguments/rules/laws which will affect democracy and I do see him cooperating with Miller and I perpetuating Project2025.
Trump has betrayed some of his base and the economic consequences are just starting to bite and therefore, Trumps support may be dwindling but there's nothing to stop Vance picking up the mantle except for the fact he will not fill trumps boots.
It remains to be seen if the Democrats can pull themselves together and find candidates that have the balls and who can appeal to the swing vote.
But the damage Trump has done to the US's domestically and the US's international status may never be reconciled. He has fostered division domestically and he has diminished the US.
I don't know how this is going to pan out. Mainly, I hope elections will go ahead and they won't be interfered with if they do happen. Polls are not good for Trump currently, they will be worse come November 2026. A lot of Medicare cuts won't happen till after the mid-terms but the looming prospect is going to swing the infirm and the elderly away form Trump. Those infirm and elderly will have relatives too who have to face possible old people home closures, having to care for people who would otherwise be looked after, hospital closures (that's already happening) and unaffordable prescriptions and health care. People won't forget the impending watershed even though the Republicans pushed the cuts till after the mid-terms.
