That's basically it. The House has to vote for impeachment with a 66% majority. The Senate then also have to vote to convict which requires 66%. There are 100 Senators - 45 Democrats and 2 Independents who tend to vote with the Democrats. That means that you need 19 Republican Senators to vote with the Dems.

Even back in 2025 when that article was written, it was thought almost impossible that that would happen. However, now that Donnie has decided to blackmail NATO members into selling him Greenland, there is apparently a LOT of discontent. 22 Republican Senators are up for re-election in the mid-terms. They really want to be re-elected and it appears that mad Donnie is upsetting their voters. Some Republican Senators have already stated that if Trump were to initiate military action against Greenland, they would have no choice but to vote for impeachment.

The mid terms are in November. If the Democrats are able to turn enough seats they could then impeach Trump and have him removed from office - although Fuhrer Trump has already talked about cancelling the mid-terms on multiple occasions (not that he has the power to do so).

Thinking aloud, would that be the best way forward?

(My understanding) they can lame duck Trûmp as they hold the purse strings. Remove Trump and get Vance so keep a "lame ducked" President who can do nothing might be safer than putting Vance in the post?

This is another divergence from the Hitler analogy, where there was no option for democratic removal. I'm still very sceptical about how they are going to be run (assuming that Trump/Miller don't somehow cancel them under some pretext such as martial law), but if that were to happen, I think the US itself would get very ugly very quickly, Iran style.

But it's all good because nobody is talking about Epstein, and the million prices of paper that haven't been published.

So what if a few European libraries are upset?
Better than Donnie's friends getting imprisoned.

And "works better" is a vague and undefined as in if there was any "working" we wouldn't be perpetually being hit with demands to accommodate his petulant whim of the week.

I'd say UK's relationship with US isn't "working" eg devastating our business as nobody with any sense would invest in case Trūmp has a bad night's sleep and spends too much time posting on Truth social and their investment disappears the following day.

Of course it's not, but what's the alternative? A trade war or actual war, just to make it feel like we're 'doing something'?

There are absolutely no good answers to a completely mad POTUS being manipulated by evil people, but the politicians' job is to find the least worst way out of the situation.
