If a responsible parent gets taken into custody, you'd expect the 'authorities' to take the kid into care too until another appropriate guardian is found. That's what happens across the west.

It was on the driveway of the family home, there was another adult at home who was denied access to the child and not allowed to take care of him. This comes from the local Schools Superintendent who drove straight to the house when they learned of the detentions. She also said ICE agents have been driving onto school property and had previously taken a 17 year old from the High School without his parents (armed agents removing the kid from their car). A 10 year old and their mother were also alleged to have been taken on route to school and taken to a detention centre when ICE agents had told the father the child would be left at the school for him to collect.
