Quite clearly, indeed. I do find these hearings most bizarre... mostly pointless theatre and grandstanding, with no consequences for lying to senators' faces. The whole format seems to be designed to fail at whatever purpose it is supposed to have.

It’s because the 4th estate in the US has totally failed in its duty. Mainly because there check and balances have been shown to be ineffective when you have a president who doesn’t care, and a legislature who seem unwilling to act.
In the UK this sort of nonsense would be called out and the public wouldn’t stand for it.
Compare and contrast the trouble Starmer is in against Trump.
The blind tribalism is beyond comprehension. My worry is that the UK will follow then down this dark path, especially if the MSM continues to be hollowed out and on line media is unmoderated.

For those who wonder why we worry about the impact of Trumpism. Viruses don't recognise borders, and Trump is disincentivising the fight against them, and providing them a breeding ground.

An eye-popping account of Noem's machinations, fraud and incompetence at DHS. The system really is entirely broken.

We should no longer be surprised by the depths of incompetence and brutality, the lack of empathy or the blatant disregard for the constitution.
The whole administration is simply self-serving - it doesn't govern and has no intention of governing. It seems like a smash and grab raid and the owners of the shop not only have to deal with the consequences of loosing stock, they have to deal with the consequences of the damage to the facility to actually function.
