Announce new tariffs, world focuses on Trump for a day then moves on and he's no longer centre of attention. But announce tariffs and when world starts to focus on ither stuff he announces higher tariffs and he's centre of attention again.

Narcissism.
It's going to be interesting seeing the markets' reactiin on Monday morning. Since everyone has the same tarrifs, there's not a lot of point doing anything other than passing all of them on.

Which pretty well invalidates the justifications he gave when first introducing his tariff regime (how some countries had an imb of payments). Now it's no more than a crude import tax and so crude as to damage a fair number of sectors.

Of course over time as world starts focussing elsewhere no doubt Trùmp will be announcing "adjustments" that'll keep world focus on him (again)

He can only use this particular mechanism for a few months, during which time the GOP will be campaigning for the mid terms. I wonder if all of the other ways he thinks he's allowed to impose tarrifs are harder in some way than the blanket approach he has used.

The fact that there have been retaliatory Tariffs that may still be binding and where countries have sought other markets in the face of unpredictability, doesn't fair well for the US long term.

However, the pushback from SCOTUS and that Trump cannot run completely rough shod over the constitution is something to cheer about. Perhaps he going to crash around all the way to the mid terms unconvincingly.

[Please don't say 'if there are mid term elections'. The 'if' is a given]
