I feel another "renaming" on its way ...
I do wonder how to interpret this (and other mad posts the linked report references). To me two possibilities:

1. He's lost the plot and men in white coats are long overdue.2. Distraction. Flood the zone with anything to distract from Iran and high oil prices.
China has completed the 1st 4 phases of it's Moon landing program with manned missions landing scheduled for 2029-2030.Were it not for the other nonsensical ramblings, it could just mean that the will be putting men on the moon again before anyone else.
I am convinced he is just driven by whatever he has seen on TV.
This latest iteration is For All Mankind.
China has completed the 1st 4 phases of it's Moon landing program with manned missions landing scheduled for 2029-2030.
US has cancelled its Lunar Gateway mission (2026).
MASA require SpaceX and Blue Origin to demonstrate safe landing of unmanned HLS systems before humans will be allowed in it and these demonstration flights are booked for 2028. starship and Blue Moon crewed are provisionally scheduled for late 2028 but SpaceX and a track record of being late and Blue Origin don't yet have a track record so things slipping though they are still hoping the SpaceX HLS will be ready early 2028.
So it would be a close thing except China has a better record of sticking to schedules.
Thinking more about longer term manned Moon base, US activity in space seems very variable and subject to ever changing budgets and political whim.In the grander scheme of things, Trump's weakening of the US economy - $40tr national debt for example, must have an effect on budgets and ambition?
We won't know until the dust settles well after a Democratic win in 2028.

Whereas China works more strategically and long term.
I wonder is US got to landing people that would be "job done" where China would be building bases, manning on a long term basis.
I can't see business funding any US manned Moon base - costs would be very high for limited returns. Business might talk a lot to get more positive reactions from Trûmp but come to putting up large amounts of money I'm more sceptical.
I suspect the only "benefit" they would accept is Government contracts so guaranteed return, probably for some daft needless report about getting business to invest in such projects. And that would need Government money and I thought budgets were beyond Trûmp's control and he'll be gone in a couple of years which is no time at-all for such aims.In any case, Trump would only push it if his children and best buddies profited from it.
