I'd say that woman is either ill or anorexic. The 2 blokes are just stood about, obviously waiting. Either way it seems a bit mean of Ian Dunt to be mocking her. Isn't he chubby and bald? Glass houses etc.

Yeah, there's that too, and fair point about Dunt, though chubby & bald probably is fairly normal for a 40-something male.

Nope (well probably). She is Susan Dell and is marrieds to Michael Dell next to her (of Dell Technologies) has always been very thin / lean going back 30 years. But she seems to have had extensive plastic surgery making her look really weird. She's 62 years old. She and her husband are billionaires.

It’s the MAGA look. It’s a cult of personality and appearance.
Silly plastic face and bonkers Dallas hairdos.
I suspect that is a wig.

It wasn’t that long ago that all the men were wearing the same crappy shoes.

What do the USA do with Christa Pike now?

She is being held in handcuffs in hospital but seems like she will make a good recovery.

They can’t let her out, but she will almost certainly have a legal case against the state.

I suspect she will now just be left to rot in prison, it would be a brave decision to put her back on death row.

Let's hope a good lawyer will pick up her case pro bono and sue the government to hell and back.

The US is strong on Christianity. Surely God has decided that she should live? Logic innit?
Unless religion is only there to serve man's purposes.

It amazes me that in a country where people can shoot each other like its normal, ICE agents can shoot an innocent citizen in the face, and where a president can boast he could commit homicide with no consequences, where life saving vaccines can be withdrawn from children, that a 50 year old woman can’t put away effectively under their law.

The whole case seems quite odd. There seemed to be quite a bit of sympathy for her and that her being abused as a child wasn't being taken into account but from the (little) I've read it was a pretty abhorrent murder she committed and the abuse she suffered doesn't seem directly relevant (i.e. she didn't murder a perpetrator), she also attempted to murder another inmate (although there seems to be some question whether that was whilst attempting to stop her killing someone else) and tried to escape prison. She also refused a plea deal for life without parole at her initial trial.

I don't agree with the death sentence but if it is to be used the least anyone should expect is that it is done competently. I saw that she actually asked to be hung as she was worried that medical issues relating to blood-clotting might create problems so she was quite perceptive on that. However, I do find the sympathy for her a bit strange considering all she's done.

It's relevant because she had little real parenting. Her parents were alcoholic. She was raped as a toddler, at age 11 and 17. She tried to kill herself when she was 12 and was sent to a Juvenile Evaluation Centre at 15 following breaking probation terms (she had been caught stealing candy). She spent a year there due to bad behaviour and prior to her admission had had to be removed from her home after her mother's boyfriend sexually abused her.

JEC did turn her around and encourage her to train as a teaching assistant before enrolling in the Job Corps programme. Whilst there she became convinced that Colleen Slemmer was trying to steal her boyfriend. She and her boyfriend murdered her in the most horrific way possible.

The US Prison system made no attempt to rehabilitate, and the "sympathy" is not for the murder she did, but for the fact that her mental state and history of abuse (plus PTSD and bipolar) was not taken into account when she was tried. Arguably it would have been more appropriate for her to have a psychiatric evaluation and treatment rather than a life imprisonment. The argument is not that she should have been released but that execution was not appropriate. Her boyfriend who was just as culpable was not sentenced to death because he was a couple of months younger.

I don’t think he has serious balance issues.
He’s 80 and can walk down stair without aids and plays golf.
Having seen elderly relatives who often fell over and couldn’t get up, he’s far more agile than them. He’s probably average for an 80 year old.

He does seem to have to be VERY careful coming the steps to AF1

but he can do it

and the "Very Careful" will partly be due to his terror of looking like there is anything wrong with him
so even a slight issue would make him over-react to prevent a possible mis-step or trip

He could do a lot for older people by showing that you can still function and do things despite old age causing problems
but he is just not that kind of person

But for his age he is not too bad
