Have we covered his decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel to bring down prices in the US (that have increased due to his own actions starting yet another war). Even by Trump standards this seems insane. Also, I would have thought the oil prices would be good for him to sell a good chunk of the oil he stole from Venezuela.

Maybe (guessing here) he's more concerned about what might happen to that wealth if Democrats gain enough power and start investigating and acting against all the corruption, etc. My assumption is that his "Get Out Of Jail Free" card from the Supreme Court applies only to his duties as President and all the accumulation of wealth is not included.

Maybe he now sees the bigger threat of what could happen from losing control.

But I suspect he's left it too late. With Ukraine having successes taking out Russia's refineries and Russia needing fuel, Russia's long term allies needing fuel how much will Russia be sending in the next month (Russia wouldn't piss-off China on whom they rely and can't manipulate when Trümp is a puppet in Putin's hands and easily distracted). And only way it will affect the US diesel price is when enough is available in the retail pumps yet that diesel needs to find tankers to allow it to be shipped to the US to be distributed across the US and in volumes that can impact price. I doibt there is enough time and doubt the deal is big enough.

I've seen it pointed out that Donnie's Deal would be covered by increasing imports of diesel from Canada by just 4%. So it's really just a love letter to Putin, probably never to be consummated. Oh, and to wind up the libs, obvs.

To an extent, but then there was the odd bit of pretend support for Ukraine (e.g. they were going to license them to build Patriot missiles, IIRC). Though the amount of $ support basically stopped when Trump won in 2024.
