The rest of the article is Telegraph nonsense. All the various models assume some sort of weighting, so none of them will be the same. It's not an exact science, so they look an arbitrary number of years and come up with something they think is reasonable, and then they apply it forward to give the counter-factual. I assume the Telegraph chap picked the worst performing countries and most favourable weightings to make the point, so I don't consider it a robust bit of analysis; however, I do think it would have been a sensible control study for all the economists who have published their Brexit impact results. It's the sort of thing a scientist would have done.

Says it all really 😂

Sensible. As reported, Carney says "We have come to realise that the current US administration's signatures are written in pencil."
(Or similar)
Whilst I suspect Canada will longer term look to be closer to the EU, I also expect that the US/Canada Trade deal will be agreed in the near future. Trümp needed the world to focus on something other than their demonstration of having run-out of idea on Iraq. But the US States that will be significantly impacted by the tariff war Trümp is starting are also significant to the Mid-Term elections.

Maybe in 2-1/2 years.

I guess Daniel Hannan's wet dream of a Canada - UK deal isn't top of Carney's list. Can't think why he wouldn't prioritise doing an oven-ready deal with a single nation rather than the world's 2nd biggest market.

Carney's comment about the US signature being in pencil at the moment is why he won't be doing anything in a hurry with them, as long as any vaguely sensible heads simply let a senile narcissist change trade policy on a whim every week.

Usually their polls aren't even properly conducted, no email address required, multiple votes allowed from same IP / browser signature etc. It's just vying for clicks.

Yeah, I know all that, but I still find it amusing, given the results.
