Round of applause for the caption.

Indeed, the Senate seems to have as much clout as a parish council these days. All their own doing.
Does not take away that's is wrong that Trump(and many presidents before him) are bypassing the function of congress by using executive orders. They where not intended for this and it should have been adressed long time ago.

There's little doubt that Republicans and Project 2025 had been studying where all the weaknesses in the norms and wotnot were. Too many affronts to democratic accountability (executive orders, presidential pardons, etc), all ripe to be abused to the max by those who don't like democracy.

Yeah nice and all but over the past year i don't think i'm far off if i say Trump has made over 90% off his decisions by executive order bypassing congress, and many US laws in the process let alone international laws.
This is where I don't know enough about US legislative procedures. Trûmp can deface as much paper as he likes with his sharpie but it’s US military who will need to actually do any invading and the military are sworn to obey the law not obey Trųmp. Trūmp might be Commander-in-Chief but all ranks are responsible for only obeying legal orders.

Hence wondering about if Congress is legally required to approve invading an ally's territory, Trúmp might ignore Congress but if that makes his orders illegal will the military actually obey them?

I haven't read the entire thread (apologies), have we considered that possibility that Greenland is a handy distraction tactic to focus EU/Nato away from Ukraine?
I agree it's possible. Also possible it just feeds his narcissism as other NATO leaders rush around trying to make him happy whilst the rest of the world just talks about Trũmp.

But he's still got to find an "exit" when he doesn't get Greenland. After all he's said he'll look even more of a fool when Greenland outsmart his explicit requirements of ownership. So he'll meed some sort of reason for US ownership no longer being so crucial.

It might be that he just thinks of (or someone plants the idea of) an even more lunatic distraction, and thinks everyone else will forget, not least as the US media seem to have almost as short an attention span as he does. He seems to have given up on Canadia for the time being as being absolutely 'must have' for the US.

I mean, he's just spouting bollocks. This is the entire depth & subtlety of his thinking. He's like a five-year-old who's made his mind up he wants a toy he's been told by his parents he can't have, and he's just coming up with the reasoning of a five-year-old.

"No, Donald, you can't have that, and stop being so silly. If you carry on, we'll take your phone away for a week, and you'll be grounded."

The problem is that there are no adults left in his circle who will tell him.

Sounds like the Danish will accept US occupancy of Greenland. Whether that leads to complete control, we'll have to wait and see

Interesting!
I haven't read the entire thread (apologies),

How very dare you!! - I think this is the only thread I've ever started on the NCAP bit of the forum, hrrrumph!! 😆

To be fair, I imagine it still has quite a while to 'cook' anyway.

Probably, but what do I know?

BTW, the 'Canadia' was on purpose, as I always find it amusing why we insert the extra letter 'i' into certain nationalities:

Panamanian, Canadian, Argentinian, etc.

but not others

Angolan, Botswanan, Costa Rican, etc.
