China has 400 bn investment in Iran and isn’t going to throw it away easily. The Iranians are all set up for a war of attrition. The Yanks won’t like paying more to fill their gas guzzlers and Trump will have to concede at some point.
And Iran has been planning for this for many many years. Likely pacing themselves (eg pacing use of missiles & drones). I'd guess they fully expected US/Israel to attack launchers and stores so likely took steps to mitigate.

Above guesswork on my part as I have no knowledge beyond reliable reports.

The Iranians are also hinting, via the Houthis, that they could close the Red Sea shipping.

As per Hormuz, they don’t actually have to close it, but with the occasional missile threat, it’ll knock the confidence of all shipping companies and their insurance underwriters.

It’s a good time to be a utility cyclist.

Not only have they been holding that card for a while but it's been face up.
Donnie has probably still not seen it and will be surprised when it is played.

He hasn’t seen anything coming. He actually admitted today that they didn’t consider the small boats in the Strait as a threat. That’s a big thing to admit.

“Iran’s Navy is laying at the bottom of the sea, completely obliterated – 158 ships. What we have not hit are their small number of, what they call, ‘fast attack ships,’ because we did not consider them much of a threat,” Trump wrote in a social media post.
