Seems like a good reason not to help Trump.

Ahem, as mentioned earlier (below). Iran control the Straits and decide what goes through. They have been prepping for this for years.

What is even more galling for the US is that the Straits are not closed. Iran is allowing certain ships clear passage and there is nothing the US can do about it unless they want to bring China to the fore.

Pretty much, I suppose. I still think Cake Stop did a pretty good job of pointing out all the problems with Brexit before the politicians got round to it. It is much easier when you haven't got the press and voters to keep on board though.

I missed this earlier. Covid too. It's a pretty good hive mind.

Yes. The generally open discussions from a range of brains was nearly always enlightening and ahead of the politicians.
Is our legislative system fit for purpose when those driving it fail to see the obvious and push through damaging changes obvious to many, that common sense in effect overridden by lies and untruths (from those driving our legislative process).

It's not excusing that in any way, but I would again implore everyone interested in UK politics to read Ian Dunt's book on Westminster: it partly explains why there are so many terrible decisions made at pretty much every level, from the PM down to constituency level.

Analysis of the clusterfück in here. My thoughts are along those lines too

This quote is interesting

Being more realistic, I think the most likely scenario in those circumstances is that Israel would use their nukes to go out in a blaze of glory rather than give up their colonial dream, but I like the succinct way in which the author describes Israel at the end.

My guess is:

At some point, the Iranians will strike lucky and one of the missiles will hit one of Trumps Navy Vessels, maybe even an Aircraft Carrier. There will be significant casualties, and, whatever enthusiasm remains for the war, among the USA population, will evaporate.

I hope I am wrong, for the sake of the potential casualties, who probably only joined up because there were no jobs where they lived, and they thought sailing around the world being well fed seemed like a good option.

I remember the outrage at Iraq by military member's families. (Can't remember if it was Iraq I, or Iraq 2).
"They only joined for the education and training. They did not expect to actually fight."
