Of course TC's thread did start with an apology, right there in the title. It's almost as if she knew what direction it would take.

Well, there's never going to be consensus; this is one of those times where it's impossible.

What I see in that thread is a great deal of personal nastiness directed at those presenting the gender critical / sex realist side. Passions run high on both sides: see terfisaslur.com. Then see deathtotrans.com. Oops, it doesn't exist. This is not to deny ill-considered GC gibes, but the level of abuse is asymmetrical.

It's my experience that the most infuriating behaviour of all is wielding logic, ignoring the easy lure of a slanging match, and keeping calm. Grasshopper.

It's clear from the other thread that some find any disagreement unbearably provocative.

FWIW I think sex and gender is a very interesting and nuanced topic but almost impossible to discuss online in a sensible and respectful fashion.

As if "what is a woman?" wasn't enough, now we must define "respectful".

Doubtless these will reveal themselves in the fullness of time (spoiler alert: I have no allegiances here). However, your request misses the point of the exercise, which is to be inclusive to new members by providing a key to exclusive information.

There aren't state secrets hiding on the Political Jokes Thread. There isn't a fountain of youth tucked away on the NCAP Soccer ball Thread.

This forum is just as inclusive as any other, and would possibly be more popular if, for whatever reason, it wasn't viewed with trepidation and/or disdain by those on the mothership.

Before political discussion was (kind of) axed from the main site there were wider ranging debates, but some users didn't like it and kept whinging to the mods which is why we are where we are.

And that’s how you will learn of all our personalities, quirks, allegiances etc..
You’ll just have to read the various threads like everybody else.

The point of the exercise seems to be treating you as a special case.

Even if such a summary were to be provided, who would write it? Whose opinion on any given member would be the most valid?

I did wonder about this with this sudden zeal for talking about gender, gossip about members, and reference to CC as “across the street”. What clinched it was starting a thread on multitools.
