Can someone point out to the BBC where Alaska is, and who owns it?
PS - Donnie has declared that Russia is not a threat which makes the whole report redundant if true.

Also, the country that can block China's access the most is the US by controlling the Bering Sea/Chukchi Sea from Alaska.

Bothsidesism at its finest from the BBC. From what I've read, the videos would easily fact-check Noem's 'claims', but that apparently is beyond the BBC's journalists.

A very good point, I think: "How would we report this were it happening now?" And that's without the benefit of virtually live phone footage of current events.

Indeed. It ought to be at the forefront of all contentious areas of news, rather than being an add-on annoyance to people who for whatever reason - political (e.g. Gibb) or journalistic (reporters who like to both-sides stuff to get the clicks and breathless prose, or to keep their access) - like to keep controversy alive, or, just out of cowardice.

Even in the latest 'live update', which gives more weight to the video evidence, the MAGA framing of it comes in the first paragraph, and the second paragraph says blandly "no evidence to support the claim" before the evidence that MAGA is actively lying. They've obviously had the memo that all reporting must start with the Trump administrations claims, a habit that ignores all the evidence that every time they 'claim' something, it almost always turns out to be a complete lie. The habit is damaging, as the way people consume news is that once you've put something out there, it's then up to the rest of the piece to rebut it, by which time people's interest has waned.
