I heard Chris Mason recounting his amazing scoop on the radio this morning. And as he was highlighting his tallens crouching below the cameras, etc. we got "and I asked my question" and my thought was, at last, the eg"Mr President, why are you blocking full publication of the Epstein files?" or maybe "Mr President, were you pushed into a disastrous unnecessary war by Metanyahu?". Fantastic opportunity for that probing question.

And we got "Is the prime minister a man you can do business with?". Complete damp squib. And the entire world knows that 10 mins later Trǔmp will give a completely different answer.

I'm feeling Chris Mason is my "straw that broke the camel's back" renewing my TV license or not renewing as it's due in a months and I can't contribute to such diabolical don't know what word as it isn't "reporting".

...but not with any details of the potentially criminal action by Thomas.

At this stage, it's got to be a conscious omission (that no other media reporting is avoiding), given the criticism it's receiving.

Maybe their requirement for "balance" is the cause - they can't find anybody to defend his actions and presenting only the condemnation side would be "unbalanced"?

Well, there's a thing... the late partial report (still only mentioning Thomas in passing) has slipped down on the main national listing, but the detail about Thomas's actions have belatedly appeared under 'local news' for Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Let's hope not too many people go looking for it, eh?

Mason reminds me of this guy, who was head of news at the Spanish state TV channel during the tenure of the Spanish Conservatives (PP) in the 2000s.

A couple of episodes seem relevant today

After the terrorist attacks of 11 March 2004, Urdaci was accused of following the orders of the ruling party by attributing them to ETA and not to Al Qaeda. When the results of the 14 March election was announced, people at Socialist Party campaign headquarters could be heard on live TV chanting slogans against Urdaci.
