Its a fair point though. I think I calculated how much more disposable income it represented over the period he was at it, and it was quite high in % terms. Higher than you could reasonably turn a blind eye to. Let me do it again...

He averaged about £35k embezzlement over a 13 year period. Which is the equivalent of near enough £70k extra income before tax. Their combined incomes over that period were probably less than £200k.

So would YOU notice an extra 30%-£40% of your income? And would YOU expect your leader and the person who sets your taxes to be in touch with reality enough to know what lifestyle a certain income would allow someone? Would YOU expect the person ultimately responsible for the country's finances to be able to keep track of their own?

She's either an idiot or she knew, neither of which are good, which is why she resigned.

Just as well I didn't bring any of that up really...

I'm curious - why, despite all the arrests, interviews under caution, 2 million quid of public money and blue murder tents creating shrieking, outraged headlines the length & breadth of the UK - did Police Scotland and the CPS just decide to completely ignore her obvious & flagrant complicity and guilt?

Surely someone must know!

There's this concept in criminal law about proof beyond reasonable doubt, and this requires this thing called evidence. Those are different from things like stupidity and incompetence.

That's including the £125k spent on a campervan, which was towards the end of the period and IIRC was never used due to lockdowns. Without that closer to £21k a year.
One of his other purchases was an expensive coffee machine. Guess what Sturgeon's luxury item was on Desert Island Discs? If she knew it was funded by her partner's embezzlement would she have had the brass neck to mention it?

She almost certainly used that coffee machine, so maybe she should be done for benefitting from the proceeds of crime?

The party and Sturgeon are the victims here, taken advantage of by Murrell, who's clearly a devious and manipulative b*stard.

Good job his wife never noticed any of this going on under her nose. Mind you, it wasn't the only thing she didn't notice about him. Allegedly.

Indeed, I always quite admired Nicola, even when I didn't agree with her objectives, but, "not noticing" almost half a million pounds in their life style takes some believing. IMHO.

It was quite a big campervan.

You're assuming it all went into the joint bank account.
E & I have a joint account into which we pay as necessary, but otherwise we have separate financial arrangements and don't usually discuss these with each other. If E was embezzling someone I probably wouldn't know anything about it.

God, she's good!

Oops, might have said too much already...

Taking place over a period between 2010 & 2022, during which - if you think about it - she was probably perhaps a tiny bit busy & preoccupied - particularly from 2014 on, when she may have been working slightly longer than 9-5 Mon-Fri & quite possibly didn't make it home to Uddingston for tea every evening, she may have missed a thing or two. And apparently they did have separate accounts.

This reasoning, even to a disinterested outsider, does have a bit of the feeling of "Yeah, right. If you say so."
