I must say I am surprised how many people have such completely independent and opaque finances, from their spouse. Don't any of you discuss large purchases before you make them, you know on the off hance they affect the other person?

No, and no.
We have each enough put aside that anything short of a house can be bought for cash. This is a result of being frugal in the first place.

Well quite. I think he passed that off as being for campaigning purposes. Although they'd have had to have been a close knit campaign team used to sharing a bed.

Campaigning was certainly my impression when it first came to light. I am now better informed.
They were married so presumably used to sharing a bed. 😉

Yes, and she will be well cared for. I like that.
It's interesting how other people deal with it. I earn about 3 1/2 - 4 times what my wife does, so I pay most of the bills and we end up with roughly the same amount left over. But I know how much she earns and vice versa, and it's understood that everyone £ we have is "ours".

Why would the SNP need a campervan?

Answers that would be interesting (I'd have expected the Police to have asked and CPS to have reviewed),

eg when this massive thing turned up on their driveway was this the 1st thing she knew about it or did they spend a weekend together traveling round dealership choosing one?

eg when she asked "Who does it belong to?" and was told SNP did she ask "Why do SNP need a camper van?" and if she didn't ask why not, something that big sitting on your driveway isn't easy to overlook.

eg don't ask = plausible deniability ?

That explains the use of an emoji.
I wasn't joking when I said I don't understand them.

I don't think any political party or leader of a political party would escape unscathed from being married to someone who goes down for theft or embezzlement, whilst living in a house that contains the proceeds.

It is fine to sympathise on a personal level (which I do to some extent) but be concerned how it reflects on them professionally. Apart from anything else, Sturgeon robustly defended the SNP finances and pretty much black-balled anyone who dared ask. So she stuck her neck out on an issue she had a baked in conflict of interest on, and turned out to have been rather badly mistaken.

Define unscathed.

She’s no longer in politics, which was her life, so she may well have been ‘scathed’.
