Obviously this is being talked about at present as the nominations for this year have just closed the 2026 award close at the end of January 2026 and a certain Donald Trump is apparently desperate to be awarded it.
If the peace deal between Israel and Palestine/ Hamas ( or whoever is on the other side to Israel here) is a long term lasting deal, then it is a huge achievement and reminds me of the deal in 1978 between Israel & Egypt - a deal no one said would last and which at the time put Egypt at odds with lots of Arab nations. This Camp David peace accord was negotiated under the mediation of US President Jimmy Carter. He was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for this groundbreaking peace deal, instead it went to Menachin Begin and Answar Sadat who were the respective leaders of Israel & Egypt.
Jimmy Carter I can imagine would not have wanted such an award being the sort of person who believed in serving his fellow man and putting others first, unlike the current US President who seems to want the world to worship at his feet
I'm not trying to play down the role Donald Trump has played in bringing this embryonic peace deal together and he deserves praise for that, irrespective of your general views on him. However it does highlight the difference in personalities between the 2 US presidents
