Whilst I won't miss Wallace one jot, I will miss his 'In the factory' program (despite him acting like a twat). It's one of the few progs on the Anbaric Distascope that covers the dirty world of mass manufacturing (something we're losing pretty quickly here in the UK). It's a vain hope that young'uns might actually be inspired to take-up careers in the dark arts of making stuff.

Mind you...if there's an opportunity for a presenter for a new season...I'll prepare my CV!

Never seen it: was it presented by an experienced expert?

No, and he often gave his own account of what the process was rather than letting the staff explain. Interesting show but more for the insight into the process than Wallace's input. How It's Made is a similar thing, on Discovery I think.

Experienced? Yes apparently, in what exactly is a good question....
Usual Wallace Cockernee loudmouth style saying little in an overexcited manner when he pushes a button (it's all about him of course). As Aurora says, would have been better if the true experts did the talking. The subject matter is interesting enough.

Dom Littlewood is ready to take over the short bald cockney geezer role.
Stick a pair of glasses on him and no one will be able to tell the difference.

Happened to watch BBC Newsnight last night (4 Dec 2024) and ... can't see how Wallace has any sort of TV career left.

And whilst BBC have pulled the Christmas baking programs he hosts, can't understand how they haven't at least put the current episodes on "hold".

Edit: Reported in today's Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-...-ghostwriter-makes-new-harassment-allegations.

Christmas ones just involve celebs for one episode. Normal Masterchef involves members of the pubic - presumably they decided it was unfair after the huge amount of work the amateur chefs have put in, to pull their episodes based on accusations of sexist banter.

Though am surprise that the Beeb/Production company couldn't do some kind of re-edit without Wallace featuring....

It's gone somewhat beyond banter now.

... but none of it is in the recordings being considered for broadcast.

[and ALL of it is allegations at this stage, but I predict that changing pretty soon ...]

It seems totally over the top to scrap the broadcast of a cookery competition - contested by keen laypersons - because there was behind the scenes discussion where offence was caused by inappropriate language/comments between 3rd parties.

Or perhaps all the BBC channels should be replaced with a black screen during this difficult period.

"We are very sorry for any offence caused anywhere in the world by any activity in any way connected to the BBC."
