Interestingly, they hope to reduce offshore costs by, over 50% I assume, it says getting it to 5 cents per kw/h.
Over demand might mean onshore, at best stays at 3 cents per kw/h.

It is Scotland getting green hydrogen going. Onshore hydrogen will start first. It is still puzzling why hydrogen, for Scotland, should be mainly produced from offshore when its costs well over double the price. In England it is unsaid government policy to protect 2nd home prices.

Orsted sort of said 'someone else booked us on a priority contract'. Offshore is very specialist so it will be nightmare competition in the current emergency.

Takes 6 years for 100% payback, year 7 being free profit.
The flaw is that increased demand means even more inflation of cost. And obviously it needs public ownership.

Rather than follow any of thus the UK us being loaded with more and more debt. Also it has to be said that it was excess competition that busted the system pre war. Public ownership of generation alongside proper scientific regulation is needed. The goverment could make a killing if it built and owned onshore windfarms.

It looks too complex and political for Ofgem and ex Ofgem. The point about the standing charge is correct. It is ever more and more a poll tax type thing.

Here in England it is even more farked up by the Tories than I though.

So, even the turbines that get built in England are higher cost and antiquated. In Sweden a majority are now over 170m i height yet here onshore are restricted to 125m.
