Could this have the unintended consequence of increasing scrutiny of all aspects of Government? It would be a highly desirable side effect, IMHO.

In a universe where people read and understood anything other than someone else's simplified partisan summaries of everything, it would be great.
I just did the same thing, and he ended up sounding like Tony the Tiger by the end of the sentence.I found myself reading that first bit in the voice of the guy with the very deep voice that does movie trailer voiceovers.
I hate defending the royals, but...
Maybe they are learning that the old "mystery" doesn't work and they can no longer hide stuff away. Maybe they will be more open in future and maybe openness will translate to a smaller institution.
But what does that mean? Fewer castles? Smaller castles? Sell of the massive estates to pay-off the National Debt? Smaller Sovereign Grant? Maybe they'll start paying the tax others are ablobed to pay? etc.I don't know about openness, but my understanding is that William has plans to hugely prune the monarchy when his time comes.
