I can never get the tone of night sky right. It’s either too grey, too blue or (oddly) too black. I think it’s the biggest difference between the really good astrophotographers and everyone else. On my main monitor, which I’ve calibrated, it looked OK if not quite how I wanted it. I might buy a proper calibration tool but they’re pricey.

It wasn’t as vivid to the eye but the human eye doesn’t cope as well as a camera lens with detail in the dark plus I had to keep using my head torch so no chance for night vision to kick in properly.

I got a Calibrite profiler somewhere between 12 and 15 years ago which I'm still using. In that context it works out as not too expensive.
Okay, I've since had to pay to upgrade the software as that is the way with hardware/software compatibility but the tech hasn't really changed.
