Are they looking for a coalition government?
That would be the only positive thing to come from splitting the vote.

Can't remember but I read earlier last week that this is the plan, a takeover of the Tory party to strengthen their election bid. All a very very long way off, but I wonder if that were to happen if we would see a new party on the centre right appear to try and reclaim traditional conservative ground (or has that been forever lost to the Lib Dems)?

So Reform have a disgruntled former councillor for alleged sexual misconduct reporting on overspend.

It seems rather trivial and common place for each of the main parties to be fined for overspends

These are recent

2015 General Election: Labour fined £20,000 in October 2016 (17 months post-election); Conservatives fined £70,000 in March 2017 (23 months post-election).
2016 EU Referendum: Vote Leave fined £61,000 in July 2018 (25 months post-referendum).

Re the criminal aspect, charges need to be laid with 12 months normally. Extension to 24 months can be requested if the charges were laid within 12 months.

If there was an overspend, likely be an electoral commission fine based on proportionality to the time and amount

It doesn’t look at the moment as if Labour or the Tories could win outright so a Tory/Reform coalition would suit the Mail.

I wonder how that would work; could it work with Farage as leader, or would their possibly be a unifying candidate for leader?

I have no facts, but suspect that many lifelong Tories might have a problem with another grifter after seeing their party devastated by BK and Truss.

I think Farage would only ever enter into one with him as leader, he quite clearly has no interest in being subservient to anyone else. Anything like that would in effect just be a Reform takeover one would imagine, in spite of the fact that currently there are more Tory MP's. I think they would be pitching it that Reform would have more MP's if an election was called imminently and therefore holds the power.

I don't see the benefit though, traditional conservatives that have not already switched are unlikely to want a part of a Reform coalition, more likely to lean towards Lib Dem. I don't think Reform would be confident in winning enough seats outright to be in a position post GE to then form a coalition and thereby bypass voters. I think they would have to do it pre election and then the lack of centre right support for a coalition becomes an issue.

All purely speculative on my part though.
