I would agree we need more affordable housing. Don’t necessarily see why it needs to be “council”.

If you read some of the newspapers articles associated with Philipson’s mother’s purchased council house, it was hardly a good advert for council housing, ie lack of maintenance etc.

It needs to be council driven as private landlords will want to maximise profits, therefore higher rent.
The reason for the big sell off was unsustainable maintenance costs. A middle ground needs to be found, or just give up.

There was also an intention to make more people home owners, thus helping shift burden from the state to the individual, as well as building on the change to a far more entrepreneurial society.

Housing associations were supposed to be that middle ground. Not for profit, but not part of the state. There aren't enough of them.

Right to buy perhaps should have been limited either to the point where council housing stock had been trimmed, or based on living in the house for rather more than 3 years.

Hasn't Burnam said he's going to co sider ending right to buy?

Nothing to do with bribing them to vote Tory?
Any evidence to support the last part of your sentence?

The alternative theory is that by becoming home owners workers were then tied to their mortgages.
Having a large mortgage and fancy cars on PCP is not entrepreneurial, it is being tied to debt while others profit.

Of course not, in the same way that Labour don't chuck loads of money at benefits claimants to bribe them to vote Labour.

That's devoid of all logic. Labour had the most votes from working age people, slightly more from women than men, did better with degree level than the unqualified and pretty evenly across social groups.

Working age does not necessarily equate to working.

Several benefits (perhaps even most?) are paid to people in work.
