They don't seem to understand that an internal investigation is not the same as a criminal investigation. It would be a good get out though, 3 years down the line at the next election 'sorry, still under investigation so we can't discuss it'.

Absolutely. If only he had some sort of background in finance where you need to know rules and regulations. Working as a stockbroker or commodities trader for 20 years for example....Yeah, right.
Even if true (it's not), ignorance is no defence. It's his job to know.
